Living in Communion

“I want to ask you a favour…

I want to ask you to walk together,

and take care of one another”

– Pope Francis

Principle of Living in Communion:

When his visible presence was taken from them, Jesus did not leave his disciples orphans.  He promised to remain with them until the end of time; he sent them his Spirit.  As a result communion with Jesus has become, in a way, more intense: ‘By communicating his Spirit, Christ mystically constitutes as his body those brothers of his who are called together from every nation.’ (CCC 788)

The Beauty of the Catholic Church

For as in one body we have many members,
and not all the members have the same function,
so we, who are many, are one body in Christ,
and individually we are members one of another.

Romans 12:4-5

Official Teachings

Community life does not arrive spontaneously but is built up through catechesis and apprenticeship.  The attitude of Christ, found in Matthew’s gospel must be promoted by catechesis:  simplicity and humility, solicitude for the least among us, care for those who are most alienated, loving and devoted correction, common prayer, mutual forgiveness, and above all, charity and love in all things.  (GDC in Plain English 86)

Above all through the sacraments of Baptism and Holy Eucharist, an inseparable union comes about between Jesus Christ and Christians.  The union is so strong that it joins him and us like the head and members of a human body and makes us one.  (YOUCAT 126)
